It just feels right to be drinking out of a pumpkin this time of year! Pumpkins make me happy…. And wine makes me happy! You guessed it… This Pumpkin Wine Dispenser makes me VERY happy!
I know.. this is not a new idea… I’ve been seeing these pumpkin wine dispensers for years… In Fact, I made mine last year, never photographed it, and have been patiently waiting for September so I could break it out! BUT… most of the ones I see are simply sitting on the counter. My version is a Pumpkin Pedestal!! That’s right… a wine glass actually fits under the spout, without having to hang the pumpkin off the side of the table! It also takes up less space at the drink station!! And let’s be real… anything up on a pedestal is a bit more impressive… and what’s more impressive than a wine filled pumpkin!!
If you’ve read my other posts, you’ll know that I love using candlesticks in my projects… I’ve used them to make Cake Stands and Domed Cheeseboards. I collect them from thrift stores and garage sales, so I always have a few to choose from when a project presents itself. For this Pumpkin Wine Dispenser, you’ll want to find a pretty chunky candlestick. The wine filled pumpkin can get pretty top heavy, and you wouldn’t want it toppling over. Also make sure the top of the candlestick is wide enough for the pumpkin to sit comfortably… basically for a large pillar candle.
As for the Craft pumpkin, they come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Buy one big enough to hold a bag of wine. Originally, I purchased a cream colored one, and paired it with a black candlestick. It should come as no surprise that I second guessed the color choice, and painted yet another pumpkin black with the intention of making an all black pumpkin dispenser. I still think that would have looked striking, but my dearest convinced me for once not to “paint it black”, so I stayed with my original cream one. It’s not like I wont be using the black pumpkin elsewhere! For all of you, I feel like any color could look cool, and these pumpkins are easily paintable if you can’t find the color you’re looking for.

What you’ll need:
- Heavy Candlestick
- Paint (as needed)
- Carvable Pumpkin
- Creative Versa Tool
- Drill with 1 1/2″ Hole Saw Bit (kit)
- Boxed Wine
1. Clean and paint your candlestick
2. Meanwhile, using the Versa Tool cut an opening in the top of the pumpkin. I recommend cutting at an angle towards the center of the pumpkin to ensure the top can sit comfortably back onto the pumpkin without falling in. Make sure your bag of wine can fit through the opening. My opening was about 4″ in diameter.
3. Using your drill, cut a circle in the lower part of the pumpkin for the pour spout.
4. Using E600 glue, attach the base of the pumpkin to the top of the candlestick
5. Allow to dry for 24 hours.
6. Once dry, remove the bag of wine from the box, and place inside of your pumpkin
7. Push the Spout thru the hole in the pumpkin
Enjoy!!
A tip…. once you get to the bottom of your bag of wine… it helps to put something in the bottom of the pumpkin to lift the bag up over the spout, so it continues to pour out with ease!
By the way… Don’t you think this pumpkin looks great set up on the DIY Ouija Serving Tray?
Do you recognize that Skeleton Hand? It’s the same one I used for the Halloween Place Card Holders and Napkin Rings! I love finding lots of uses for all of my purchases! Thought these hands added a spooky element to the pumpkin!!
