An array of Chinese Lanterns have illuminated Centennial Park, and it is a sight to see! The debut of the Atlanta Chinese Lantern Festival was a feast for the senses and I highly recommend going!
Centennial park is playing host to 25 dazzling Chinese Lanterns, each crafted by Chinese artisans. The display includes flowers, animals, a Christmas village, tunnels of lights, a 3 story pagoda, a 200 foot Chinese Dragon, and so much more.
Each lantern display is crafted in impeccable detail, and the bright glowing colors will amaze you! As I walked through the park, I felt like a kid.. the sites and sounds cannot help but to put a smile on your face!
While walking through the maze of colorful creations, you can enjoy the sounds of China, as music plays throughout the park. Learn about Chinese history as you read about each Lantern display. Stop for a bite, and enjoy traditional Chinese food! You can even do a little shopping at the Chinese artisan tents! Enjoy nightly entertainment at the Southern Company Amphitheater as the festival offers traditional Chinese dancing, theater, music, and more! This festival truly offers an opportunity to experience Chinese culture.
This festival is fun for any age! On a date night?…. hold hands as you walk through the romantic heart tunnel! A night out with friends?…. grab a cup or two of the Spiked Hot Chocolate and enjoy a bit of culture! Parents with kids?…. let the kids burst with excitement as they run from one gleaming display to the next! My 1 year old was ecstatic! I couldn’t get one good picture of her… she was running and dancing so much, she was a blur!
If you’re in, or plan to be in the Atlanta area, don’t miss this spectacle of lights!
The 1st annual Chinese Lantern Festival is currently being held in downtown Atlanta, at Centennial Park. This festival opened on December 09, and is running until January 15th.
