Looking to put together a quick New Year’s Eve banner? Look no further…. This banner only takes a few minutes to assemble…
I’m a firm believer in DIY. I have no doubt that you can find a New Year’s Eve banner in the store.. but why hunt for one, when it’s so simple to make your own?! What’s even better with a project like this is that you have control over the colors and the message, so you can customize it to be perfect for your event! What you’ll need:
- Jumbo Glitter Character Stickers – when buying these stickers…. plan your banner message ahead of time! You want to make sure the pack of stickers you buy has all of the characters that you need. If your message is Celebrate…. make sure that pack contains 3 E’s!
- Tinsel Thread – This time of the year, it’s especially easy to come across tinsel!! I found this package of tinsel at Michaels with all of their Christmas decor and wrapping supplies.
- Paper Chalkboard Banner Sheet Pack – I also found this pack of sheets at Michaels. Honestly, this pack is what made this project so easy! The banner sheets are already cut into a banner shape, and they already have small holes for threading the tinsel. All of the work is practically done for you! If you are not able to find a pack of banner sheets like this one, simply use black card stock, and cut to size. These sheets measure 5 1/2″ x 7″.
- Glue
1. Affix each sticker to a banner sheet, spelling out your message, and making sure each sticker is centered.
2. Because I want to keep this banner for future holidays, I added some glue to the back of each sticker to ensure they would hold. I’ve had a few bad experiences with stickers peeling up, so better safe than sorry!
3. Thread the tinsel through one hole of the banner sheet, and back out the other. Repeat for each banner sheet.
4. Space the banner sheets along the tinsel and ensure you have enough tinsel on eaither end for hanging.
5. Voila! How easy was that?!?
Have a wonderful New Year’s Eve!!
