This years Holiday table was decked out in deep reds, bright silver, rich textures and lots of shine.
While Christmas has passed and the dreaded task of packing up all of the decor has begun… I wanted to take a quick look back at the table setting I put together for this year’s holiday. I love decorating for Christmas, but decorating the table always holds a special place in my heart.
Candles are a must on any table that I set. My dining room has very low light, so candles offer the perfect ambiance. The other nice thing about candlelight is the way it plays with colored glass. I chose a pair of red mercury glass trees, an oversized red mercury glass ornament, several large red disco ball glass ornaments, and a pair of small red glass votive holders.
To add some texture to the table, I chose a pair of red and black feather trees. I like to mix the height of the pieces on the table, so I placed one of the feather trees on a silver candlestick.
To bring in more touches of silver, I found a grapevine tree coated in silver sparkle. I also had some crystal garland that I wove around each piece. Lastly, I used a pair of shiny silver candlesticks, with red taper candles.
All of the centerpieces sat atop a red velvet runner. I am a HUGE fan of velvet… for any occasion… but for this table, I thought it worked especially well with all of the other rich textures.
As a side note… I happened to find the red velvet runner, the large silver candlestick, and the crystal garland at thrift stores in the weeks leading up to Christmas. I was thrilled with how well they all worked into the theme of my tablescape! All of these pieces will be featured in my upcoming Thrift Shop Junkie post! Stay tuned!… and if you missed the last one, check out Thrift Shop Junkie Vol. 1 for more great ideas with thrift shop finds!
For the place settings, I found ornate red chargers at my craft store, and paired them with classic white dishes. I used red velvet napkins… that just happened to tie in perfectly with the red velvet table runner! The napkins were folded in a simple roll, and tied with a gift tag. That’s right… I picked up chalkboard gift tags, and using a red paint pen, spelled out each guest’s name.
Hope you have found a bit of inspiration for your holiday table!!
