I’m into the new wrapped necklace trend. I love the simplicity. I love the versatility. Don’t get my wrong.. I’m a maximalist, so me loving simplicity is not something you’ll hear me say very often… but somehow these necklaces have become my go-to.
I find that I can pair these with anything. The wrapped version can be tied at any length, so regardless of your neckline.. you can make these work. The necklaces can be dressed up or dressed down. Truth be told.. while I absolutely love to dress up, I find myself wearing a lot of t-shirts! And these are the PERFECT accompaniment to that graphic tee!!
It’s probably no secret that I love black velvet… and I happen to love chokers… so the first time I saw one of these, I had to have one! But after inspection… like any true Do-it-Yourselfer…. I thought – I can do this! So I ordered some supplies, and voila. I’ve been busy making wrapped necklaces out of velvet cords or leather cords… with different colored stones or miscellaneous pendants. I have also added jewelry to my shopping list at thrift stores…. I look at the pieces in a new light… “Could that be turned into a pendant?” or “What can I do with those beads?” …. I’m even combing thru my own closet and pulling out pendants that I no longer wear because I no longer loved the chain they’re on…. time to breathe new life into all of my old and found junk!! I love getting inspired!!
I’m starting to add my creations to my Etsy shop, so if you like what you see… you too can own one!! 🙂 …. And stay tuned because I have a whole box of pendants I’m working on!
Here’s a tip for the most simple of these necklaces… buy some black velvet ribbon and tie a single strand behind your neck! It does not get any easier than that!
